Backgrounds are generated on your device

Every background is drawn locally in your browser with the Canvas API. The image never leaves your device: nothing is uploaded, processed on a server, or stored by Background Black.

Downloaded PNG files are created directly in the browser and saved by your own system. We keep no copy and no record of the images you generate.

No account, no personal data

Background Black requires no registration. We do not ask for a name, an email address, or any other personal detail, and we do not build user profiles.

Anonymous product analytics

On the public Background Black website we collect anonymous product analytics through PostHog to understand how the tool is used and where it fails.

Analytics cover page visits, the resolutions people select, successful background generations, downloads, and technical errors. Events include the device category, resolution, page type, and generic error categories.

Analytics never include generated image data, canvas contents, downloaded files, or the random seed behind a background. Session recording and surveys are disabled, and analytics are not collected from local or preview environments.
